Any player can only play on ONE and only ONE WMCYO Basketball team. Players can play on other teams in other leagues, but can only play on one team in WMCYO. It is your responsibility to know what teams your player is playing on and make sure they are not playing on more than one team playing in WMCYO Basketball. If you player is playing on a school or independent team you should confirm if they are playing in WMCYO basketball. Players found to be playing on more than one team in WMCYO Basketball may face temporary or permanent suspension from WMCYO Basketball.
Players should also play for their parish, school or community center team in their home city/town when possible - if there is no team available or they were cut from a team then please contact WMCYO and we will do our best to help you find a team for your player. Select teams pulling players from multiple communities to build an upper level / elite / AAU style team are not permitted in WMCYO. If your player is signed up to play on a team like this there is a chance that they will not be permitted to play in WMCYO.

There will be a jamboree for all 3rd & 4th grade teams as well as the 2nd Grade Developmental teams this year. The jamboree is MANDITORY and all teams are required to attend. The teams will be evaluated by several members of WMCYO and will be placed in divisions at the end of the jamboree based on their performance. At the jamboree the coach will be asked to confirm what players are in attendance or not, if a player is not in attendance the coach will be asked to confirm their abilities in comparison to the rest of the team. The coach should also inform the evaluators if there team's performance was above or below normal.
The Jamboree will be held at the Holyoke Boys & Girls Club on Saturday 11/16/2024 & Sunday 11/17/2024, if there are an excessive number of teams then we may add games Friday 11/15/2024. Teams are scheduled based on their coordinators preliminary evaluation, with the strongest teams typically being scheduled to play first. Typically starting with boys 3rd & 4th grade teams - then 2nd grade teams and ending with girls 3rd & 4th grade teams.
The schedule for the Jamboree will be released on the Monday 11/11/2024 or Tuesday 11/12/2024 prior to the Jamboree, there will be no adjustments. Attendance is mandatory.

Almost all WMCYO programs charge an entry fee to watch a game, the fee can be up to $3.00 per person.
Players schedule to play in the game and up to a maximum of 3 coaches per team are admitted fee. Only players on the team is scheduled to play are admitted free, players from other teams or games may be charged a fee.
It is a maximum of 3 coaches - you may be asked to sign in by the home program. If you are not a coach please don't claim to be one. The forth person asking will be asked to pay even if it is the head coach! Only people listed as coaches on your roster may enter for free, so if you only listed one coach then only one can be admitted free!
Gyms can and will report programs and teams that cause issues with paying and may be prohibited from playing again.
WMCYO Board members and Division Coordinators are also admitted free.

Just because you schedule a team for a home game does not mean that will be there only game, it is possible that any team could be scheduled to play 2 games in the same day. We do our best to give a 2-3 hour window between start times depending on travel, we lean towards 3 hours - but if the locations are close could be a little as 2 hours.
It is also possible that a team could be scheduled to play multiple days in a week/weekend. At team could be scheduled to play up to 3 games in a Friday - Saturday - Sunday time frame. If this happens it is not a mistake.
Cancelling these games will likely cause a forfeit fee by your team / program, also teams and programs that have issues with multiple games - our policy is to cancel your home game if there is one and no forfeit wee will be awarded.
Please make sure you coaches and parents/guardians are aware of this.

Parent, Guardians & Spectators need to be respectful - see the Code of Conduct that all families are required to sign. Any one can be asked or required to leave the gym if they are causing issues or being disrespectful. If a gym coordinator or your coach has to speak with you please follow their requests or you may face removal.
Removal is at the discretion of the on site Gym Coordinator or WMCYO official at the gym.
The game can and will be suspended if the person(s) causing issues do not exit the gym and building timely and respectfully. If the game is suspended and the person(s) do not vacate the gym and building respectfully then the game will be ended and the team associated with the people causing the issues will forfeit the game. The Gym Coordinator may also call the police if they feel the issue escalated to a point that it is needed.
Any person(s) removed from a gym may and will likely face further sanctions by WMCYO Basketball which may include temporary or permanent suspensions from all WMCYO Basketball attendance including but not limited to practice, games, tournaments and another other WMCYO team events.
Any issues should be reported to your coach and your program coordinator directly & timely and they will notify WMCYO.
We ask that everyone think before taking issues to social media. We honor and respect free speech, but please think if the post could potentially cause further issues especially that could cause harm to players/children.
